Candle Making - Combined
£69 - 5 hours
How many people are you booking for?
Which of our three popular candle making classes should you choose? Introduction to Candles, Eco Soy Wax Container Candles, or Rolled Beeswax Candles? Why not try all three at once!
In the Candle Making - Combined class you'll get a slightly scaled-down version of each of the three classes. What do I mean by 'scaled down'? Don't worry, you'll still learn all the same things, but there's just a little less time to make as many candles (for example, in the Eco Soy class you normally make six, here you'll only make 4, but they're still great quality candles and you'll learn all the skills you need to make more at home.
What you'll learn in this class:
How to use different waxes: Soy, Paraffin and Beeswax.
Different candle types: Pillars, Votives, Chip Candles, Solid Moulds, Rolled, Floating and Tealights.
What equipment to use (including finding household objects instead of forking out for expensive equipment)
Wick sizing, different wick types and choosing the right wick
Calculating how much wax to use
Using essential oils and fragrance oils
Understanding hot and cold throw and testing fragrance throw
Temperature control (when and why it's necessary)
Health and safety, and proper labelling
You'll make and take home a huge haul of at least 12 candles (probably more). There's a lot of information to learn, so we'll also send you away with a handy, detailed booklet so you can feel confident making more candles at home.
Suitable for beginners, you will be guided through every step by Wendy, owner of The Little Craftery, and life-long crafter.
The workshop runs for approximately 5 hours, with a short break in the middle. Enjoy a chat with like minded people and learn some new skills! All materials and refreshments are included in the price.
Who is the class for?
Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome! Suitable for beginners or those with more experience, it's a nice relaxed and friendly class.
Wendy will take you through the tools and materials you will need and the techniques you will learn. You’ll be given full demonstrations on each technique and have the chance to put those skills to practice, and produce at least 12 candles of your own. Wendy will show you every step of the way to creating candles to die for!
The price includes everything you need: all materials and use of any necessary tools, full instruction from Wendy, and tea and biscuits. You will get to take home the candles you've made, and an information booklet. There will be a short break for lunch. Lunch is not included, so you may wish to bring something, or pop out during the break.
What are the design options?
The candle shapes and sizes will remain the same, but you'll be able to choose the wick type, blend your own essential oils and choose from a variety of colours to make your candles completely unique. Wendy will show you all the techniques you need, to ensure that you make candles to be proud of!
How long will the class last?
The class will last approximately 5 hours. It’s best to allow a little extra time as classes sometimes over-run depending on group sizes. During warmer weather, candles can take longer to set, which may affect the length of the class.
Where is the class held?
Classes are held in The Little Craftery in Field Row, Worthing, which is designed to be a functional, comfortable workspace for up to 5 participants. The shop will be closed to the public during your class, so you don’t need to worry about interruptions. If you have any special access requirements, please contact Wendy at The Little Craftery before you book to discuss, and to find out if access is available for you.
Do we need to book?
Yes, please do book in advance, as there are a limited number of places on each class (a maximum of 5 people per workshop), and we wouldn’t want you to be disappointed! We require full payment in advance in order to secure your booking. Online payments will be taken securely by either Square or Paypal (don’t worry, you don’t have to have a Paypal account!).
