Gift a Class!

Purchase a class as a gift for your friends!

Give your old bills, junk mail and other unwanted papers a new lease of life, and turn them into brand new, beautiful papers to use in other craft projects, or just to show off as works of art!  This class will show you the basics to get started with papermaking at home using traditional western techniques.  You'll make your own mould and deckle (which you can take home to use again), and make approximately 3 or 4 pieces of handmade paper with inclusions such as dried flowers, leaves, glitter and more!  Enjoy a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and a cup of tea (and biscuits, of course!).

Suitable for complete beginners, you will be guided through every step by Wendy, owner of The Little Craftery, and life-long crafter.

The workshop runs for approximately 2 hours.  Enjoy a chat with like minded people and learn some new skills!  All materials and refreshments are included in the price.

Who is the class for?

Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome!  Suitable for complete beginners or those with more experience, it's a nice relaxed and friendly class.

What's involved?

Wendy will take you through the tools and materials you will need and the basic techniques you will learn.  You'll start by making a mould and deckle, which is yours to keep, and you'll use that to make your paper.  You’ll be given a choice of a wide variety of decorative items to include, such as dried flowers, seeds, glitter and paper shapes.  Wendy will show you every step of the way to creating some beautiful handmade paper.

There is not time on the class to dry the paper sheets you make, as it's best to leave them to dry naturally.  At the end of the class, you can choose to either take your wet paper sheets to dry at home, or leave them with Wendy for collection at a later date.

What's included?

The price includes everything you need: all materials and use of any necessary tools, full instruction from Wendy, and tea and biscuits.  You will get to keep the paper you've made, and the mould and deckle you made it with, so you can make more at home.

What are the design options?

The mould and deckle you make will be a standard size, which will produce a 17x17cm square piece of paper.  The coarseness of your pulp, the type of papers you choose to recycle and the inclusions you add will all make a difference to the finished look, so the possibilities are endless!  Wendy will show you all the techniques you need, to ensure that you make handmade paper to be proud of!

How long will the class last?

The class will last approximately two hours.  It’s best to allow a little extra time as classes sometimes over-run depending on group sizes.

Where is the class held?

Classes are held in The Little Craftery in Field Row, Worthing, which is designed to be a functional, comfortable workspace for up to 6 participants.  The shop will be closed to the public during your class, so you don’t need to worry about interruptions.  If you have any special access requirements, please contact Wendy at The Little Craftery before you book to discuss, and to find out if access is available for you.

Do we need to book?

Yes, please do book in advance, as there are a limited number of places on each class (a maximum of 6 people per workshop), and we wouldn’t want you to be disappointed!  We require full payment in advance in order to secure your booking.  Online payments will be taken securely by either Square or Paypal (don’t worry, you don’t have to have a Paypal account!).  If you’d rather not book online, you can book in person at The Little Craftery.

Do I need to bring anything?

All your materials and refreshments are supplied, so you don't need to bring anything, however you may wish to bring a few old papers (bills, junk mail etc.) to include in your paper.  Please ensure that any staples and paperclips have been removed from your paper.  You may also like to bring items to include in your paper, such as flower petals, leaves, threads, lace etc.  Please ensure that any plant materials are fully dried out.

Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?

If you are unable to attend your class, please let us know as soon as possible.  Cancellations made up to 7 whole days before the class will receive a full refund.  Cancellations made within 7 days, or failure to show up for your class will not be eligible for a refund.

In any circumstance where a class is cancelled by The Little Craftery, we will attempt to contact you in advance as soon as possible to either reschedule or offer a full refund, as you prefer.
